LED Wraparound Lights

How To Install LED Wraparound Lights for Office or Room?

LED wraparound lights (also called wrap-around linear ceiling lights) are widely used in offices, classrooms and commercial spaces. Below is a complete, safe installation guide.

Important Safety Precondition: Always cut off the main circuit breaker power before any wiring work! If you lack electrical experience, hire a licensed electrician.

1. Tools & Materials You Need

Tools

  • Screwdriver (Phillips / flat head)
  • Wire strippers
  • Voltage tester
  • Drill + ceiling screws / toggle bolts
  • Ladder
  • Electrical tape / wire nuts

Materials

  • LED wraparound light fixture
  • Mounting hardware (included with light)
  • Wire nuts
  • Optional: Suspension chains/rods (for suspended ceiling mounting)

2. Two Common Office Installation Methods

Office ceilings are mainly drywall hard ceiling or suspended drop ceiling (T-bar ceiling).

Option A: Install on Suspended T-Bar Ceiling (Most Common Office Type)

  1. Turn off power at breaker, confirm no voltage with tester.
  2. Remove one ceiling tile next to the T-bar frame where you want to mount the light.
  3. Two mounting choices:
    • Direct T-bar mount: Many LED wraparounds have built-in clips to hook onto T-bars directly (no drilling).
    • Suspended mount: Attach chains/rods between fixture top and ceiling structure for extra support for heavy lights.
  4. Open the wiring compartment cover on the LED fixture.
  5. Run power cable through the ceiling to the fixture junction box.
  6. Wiring standard (AC 110V / 220V depending on region):
    • Live wire (L) ↔ Fixture live wire
    • Neutral wire (N) ↔ Fixture neutral wire
    • Earth/Ground wire (⏚) ↔ Fixture ground wire

Twist wires tightly, secure with wire nuts and wrap with electrical tape.
  7. Close wiring cover, place ceiling tile back.
  8. Attach the outer wraparound diffuser cover to the main fixture body.
  9. Restore power and test lighting.

Option B: Install on Solid Drywall / Concrete Hard Ceiling

  1. Cut off electricity. Mark mounting hole positions on the ceiling according to the fixture’s mounting bracket.
  2. Drill holes:
    • Drywall: Use toggle wall anchors
    • Concrete ceiling: Use concrete expansion bolts
  3. Secure the metal mounting bracket firmly to ceiling.
  4. Lift the LED main light body and lock it onto the installed bracket.
  5. Route power cable into fixture wiring chamber, complete the L/N/Ground wiring same as above.
  6. Mount the translucent wraparound diffuser panel.
  7. Switch power on and test.

3. Key Wiring Notes

  • Do NOT connect high voltage directly to LED driver terminals incorrectly.
  • Most modern wraparound LED lights have an integrated driver inside the housing; no extra external driver needed.
  • If you need multiple lights: Connect them in parallel (follow manufacturer diagram).
  • Dimmable model reminder: Use LED-compatible dimmer switches if dimming function is required. Ordinary light dimmers will cause flicker.

4. Office Layout Installation Tips

  1. Spacing rule: For general office illumination, install wraparound lights 2.4–3 m apart.
  2. Mount height: Keep bottom of light ≥ 2.2 m above office desks.
  3. Color temperature suggestion for office: 4000K–5000K neutral white, reduces eye strain for paperwork & computer work.
  4. Avoid installing directly above computer screens to prevent reflective glare; choose anti-glare wraparound models if possible.

5. Troubleshooting After Installation

  1. Light does not turn on

→ Check circuit power, loose wire nuts, reversed live/neutral, loose fixture connections
  2. Light flickers

→ Poor wire contact, incompatible dimmer, unstable power supply
  3. Partial section not lighting up

→ Defective LED strip or internal driver (contact supplier for replacement)

6. Safety Reminders

  • Never leave wiring compartment open without cover.
  • Do not overload one lighting circuit.
  • Do not install the light where it can be splashed with water unless the fixture has IP44+ waterproof rating.

Safety Warning

Cut off power at main breaker before starting all work. Test with voltage tester. If unfamiliar with wiring, contact licensed electrician.

Required Tools

Ladder, screwdriver, wire stripper, voltage tester, drill, wire nuts, electrical tape

Supplies: LED wraparound light, factory mounting accessories

1. Suspended T-bar Ceiling (Standard Office)

  1. Remove ceiling tile at installation position.
  2. Hook fixture clips onto T-bar frame; use suspension chains for heavy units.
  3. Open wiring cover on fixture.
  4. Route power cable into wiring compartment.
  5. Wiring connection:

    Live (L) ↔ Live

    Neutral (N) ↔ Neutral

    Ground (⏚) ↔ Ground

Twist wires tightly, fix with wire nuts, wrap tape.
  6. Close wiring cover. Refit ceiling tile.
  7. Install translucent diffuser cover.
  8. Restore power and test light.

2. Solid Drywall / Concrete Ceiling

  1. Power off. Mark mounting hole positions per fixture bracket.
  2. Drill holes; install toggle anchors (drywall) or expansion bolts (concrete).
  3. Fasten mounting bracket firmly to ceiling.
  4. Lift fixture and lock onto bracket.
  5. Complete L/N/Ground wiring as above.
  6. Fit diffuser panel.
  7. Switch power on for testing.

Important Notes

  1. All lights connect in parallel.
  2. Dimmable fixtures must match LED dedicated dimmer; ordinary dimmer causes flickering.
  3. Recommended office arrangement: spacing 2.4–3 m; colour temperature 4000K–5000K.
  4. Do not expose fixture to water unless IP44 or higher waterproof rating.

Common Troubleshooting

  • No light: Check power supply & loose wire connections
  • Flickering: Poor contact or incompatible dimmer
  • Partial dark: Faulty LED strip or internal driver
